Source Code, Holtzbrinck in $22m Wind Mobility round
Source Code Capital and HV Holtzbrinck Ventures have taken part in a $22m funding round for German electric-scooter-sharing company Wind Mobility.
Wind Mobility will use the capital raised to pursue international expansion and invest in product development.
Wind is currently investing in the development of a scooter specifically designed for the sharing market. The company's CEO Eric Wang told TechCrunch that current models used in the space are primarily designed for the consumer space and that Wind's new model will have a longer battery range, a replaceable battery, a sturdier build and greater power, in order to navigate hilly urban environments.
Company
Berlin-headquartered Wind Mobility is a electric scooter rental company that was founded in 2017. The business operates across cities in Spain, France and the US. It also operates a dockless bicycle rental service under the Byke brand in Germany.
