Ringier Digital Ventures et al. back £3m round for AirConsole
Ringier Digital Ventures has led a $3m round for Swiss gaming platform AirConsole, with backing from existing investor Wingman Ventures and angel investors, including Christian Wenger.
New investors Swiss Founders Fund, Alpana Ventures, EquityPitcher and Swiss ICT Investor Club (SICTIC) also took part in the round.
AirConsole aims to expand its platform via distribution through TV set-top boxes in Switzerland.
Ringier Digital Ventures is the venture arm of Swiss media company Ringier.
Swiss VC Wingman focuses on seed capital. Its founders include Pascal Mathis, co-founder and former COO of GetYourGuide. The VC held the closing of its first seed fund Wingman Ventures Fund I earlier this month on CHF 40m.
Previous funding
Prior to this round, N-Dream, the company behind AirConsole, most recently held a CHF 2m round in December 2017, backed by Wingman Ventures.
Company
Zurich-based AirConsole allows users to use their smartphones as gamepads for mobile gaming via cloud-based technology, using laptops and smart TVs as screens. The company has five staff according to its website and was founded in 2013.
