
Lea Partners sells IDL to PE-backed Insightsoftware
Lea Partners has sold financial performance management software IDL to US-based Insightsoftware, a portfolio company of TA Associates and Genstar Capital.
Lea acquired a majority stake in IDL in January 2019, investing via Lea Mittelstandspartner Fund, which held a final close in May 2018 on €200m. The fund writes equity tickets of €10-40m.
During the investment period, Lea expanded IDL's management team and set up sales and consulting partner channels, according to a statement. The GP also supported add-ons for the business, as well as increasing its revenues and EBITDA.
TA acquired Insightsoftware.com and market peer Global Software in June 2018; the company subsequently operated as Insightsoftware. Genstar Capital made a growth investment in the business in August 2019. The company has now made eight add-ons in Europe and the US since 2018.

IDL provides financial performance management software for medium-sized businesses, covering financial consolidation, planning, reporting and analytics. The company was founded in 1990 and is based in Schmitten, with nine additional offices in the DACH region and France. It has 59 employees, according to LinkedIn. According to its financial statements, in 2018, the company reported revenues of almost €14.4m, an increase of 3% on the previous year.
