
VCs in $20m series-C extension for Tourlane

Sequoia Capital, Spark Capital, DN Capital and HV Capital have backed a €20m series-C extension round for Germany-headquartered travel startup Tourlane.
Tourlane's founders also participated in the round.
The company plans to use the funding to support its growth by investing in its technology and product, as well as to ensure its financial stability, according to a statement.
HV Capital announced its eighth fund in October 2020, as reported by Unquote. The GP told Unquote that it will continue to invest in the travel and tourism sector, having previously backed startups including Flixbus, although the fund is not limited in its sector focus.
Previous funding
HV Capital led a $1.5m seed round for Tourlane in 2016. NFQ Capital, Monkfish Equity and business angel Nathan Blecharczyk also backed the round.
Spark Capital and HV Capital led an $8.5m series-A round in March 2018. NFQ, DN Ventures and business angel Fritz Demopoulos also invested in the business.
In December 2018, Sequoia, Spark, HV Capital and DN Ventures backed a $24m series-B round for the company.
In May 2019, Sequoia and Spark led a $42m series-C round for Tourlane, with participation from DN Capital and HV Capital. The latest round brings the company's total series-C funding to €84m.

Tourlane is an online tourism booking platform that allows users to plan and book their trips. Tourlane offers its services in 50 countries and partners with travel providers to allow customers to organise flights, accommodation and activities via its platform. Founded in 2016, the company is based in Berlin and has 199 employees, according to LinkedIn. The company employed 80 people at the time of its previous funding round in 2019.
