
42matters secures funding
Swiss mobile app discovery business 42matters has completed a series-A funding round, supported by Project A Ventures.
Also participating in the round weas existing investor Gamma Venture Partners. According to reports, the backers invested a seven-digit figure.
The fresh capital will be used to boost the company's sales effort for its App Discovery Suite to carriers and media companies. 42matters is expected to announce two major carrier deals in the coming weeks.
The funding will also be used to create a targeting solution for mobile ad networks based on the company's App Recommendation Algorithm. Furthermore, the capital will be used to initiate sales of the targeting Solution as software-as-a-service to mobile ad networks.
Gamma first invested in 42matters in September 2011 through its €32.6m Gamma III fund.
Company
42matters provides a suite of products for app discovery. Its flagship offering is Playboard, which curates lists of mobile apps from Google Play and Apple's App Store through an active community of users and recommendation algorithms to help people find suitable apps. The company has also developed the Playboard White-Label app, which allows customers to curate and promote apps to users.
The company is based in Zurich and is a spinout from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). It currently has nine employees.

As part of the deal, Project A's head of mobile, Max Moldenhauer, will join the company's board.
