HTGF invests in CCI
High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) has backed Custom Cells Itzehoe (CCI), a manufacturer of individual energy storage systems.
The new capital will be used to hire extra staff and optimise the firm's production processes.
HTGF currently invests from two active funds, totalling €573.5m. It has so far made 36 investments in start-up companies this year, the most recent transaction being its capital injection into fos4x, a technology provider for wind turbines.
Investors in HTGF's funds include the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the KfW Banking Group and 17 industrial companies, such as Altana, Robert Bosch, Daimler, Deutsche Post DHL, Deutsche Telekom, Metro, RWE Innogy and Tengelmann.
Company
CCI is based in Itzehoe and was founded in October last year as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology.
CCI develops energy storage systems based on lithium accumulator technology for niche markets such as prosthetics, weather stations, satellites, drill head sensors, unmanned underwater vehicles and concept cars.
