Emerald sells inge watertechnologies
Venture capital firm Emerald Technology Ventures has sold water treatment provider inge watertechnologies to chemical company BASF for an undisclosed amount.
Emerald also considered other exit routes but decided to sell the company in a trade sale to BASF. The acquisition of inge watertechnologies will broaden the technology base for BASF's water platform and strengthen the market position in the water treatment sector.
Previous funding
Emerald primarily invested in inge watertechnologies in 2004. In 2009, Baytech Venture Capital led a €5m finance round participated by Taprogge Watertech GmbH, Emerald Technology Ventures, Sustainable Asset Management, Siemens Venture Capital GmbH, Colruyt family's StoneFund NV and COFRA Group's Entrepreneurs Fund LP. During the holding, the company moved into a positive direction and opened up the possibility for an exit.

Greifenberg-based inge watertechnologies AG was founded in 2000 and is a provider of ultrafiltration membrane technology for the treatment of drinking water, process water, wastewater and sea water. The business employs about 85 members of staff and operates in Germany, China, Italy, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. inge watertechnologies has a turnover between €10m and €11m.
