bm-t invests in Inflarx series-B round
Existing investor bm-t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen has led a series-B funding round for biotech business Inflarx, together will all previous backers and new private investors.
The therapeutics company has now completed the second of two tranches for the round, raising more than €10m overall.
Inflarx plans to use the fresh capital to begin clinical phase-II development of IFX-1 – a monoclonal antibody – in different acute inflammatory indications. It also plans to foster pre-clinical development of IFX-2 as a follow-on antibody for the treatment of selected chronic inflammatory diseases.
The GP made use of its regional network when establishing contact with Inflarx and used its Private Equity Fund II to finance the deal. According to unquote" data, the fund is a €40m vehicle with a focus on technology sector SMEs. Its main investors are Thüringer Aufbaubank and Ärzteversorgung Thüringen.
Previous funding
In March 2009, bm-t, KFW Mittelstandsbank and Affentrager Associates invested in the final tranche of a three-tranche series-A round. Prior to that, venture capital investors provided seed financing in mid-2008.

It focuses on the development of monoclonal antibodies for use against life-threatening inflammatory diseases. Its lead drug candidate, IFX-1, is currently entering clinical phase-II development in different acute inflammatory indications. Inflarx was founded in 2007.
