BPE-backed VTN acquires EFD
BPE Unternehmensbeteiligungen has acquired 100% of the shares of EFD Härterei Fritz Düsseldorf through its portfolio company VTN Beteiligungs.
The acquisition of EFD Härterei Fritz Düsseldorf supports BPE's buy-and-build strategy to form a group of heat treatment service companies with production sites in Germany. The investor hopes to build a group generating around €30m of revenue.
BPE was convinced by the well equipped engineering and development driven unit which will add value to its portfolio.

EFD Härterei Fritz Düsseldorf, which will be rebranded to VTN Fritz Düsseldorf, is headquartered in Freiburg with plants in Bielefeld and Karlsfeld. The business is a specialist in the field of thermal treatment providing a variety of hardening services. In 2011, EFD Härterei Fritz Düsseldorf generated revenues of approximately €10m. The company was founded in 1950 and employs 78 people at three locations.
