VC-backed Home24 raises €20m
German furniture online shop Home24 has raised €20m from existing and new investors.
The startup declined to name the round's backers, but stated it was supported by existing and new investors. Its previous backers are Rocket Internet, Kinnevik, Holtzbrinck Ventures and Zimmermann - the firms backed a funding round in May 2012.
With the fresh capital, the company seeks to improve its customer service as well as its processes and systems. It aims to reach profitability soon.
Parallel to the funding round, Home24 also made changes to its management team. Marc Appelhoff and Christoph Cordes are the founders of Fashion For Home, a company that was bought by Home24 in November last year. The two are now joining Home24's board and will manage the company together with founder Philipp Kreibohm. Manager Domenico Cipolla will leave the company in May.
Company
Founded in 2009 and based in Berlin, Home24 is an online furniture store. The company has 1,000 employees and claims to have 180,000 products on offer. It is active in Germany, France, Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy and Brazil.
