
Tengelmann et al. lead $5m series-A for CareerFoundry
Tengelmann Ventures, Bauer Venture Partners and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft have led a $5m series-A for CareerFoundry, a German online school for web development.
Tengelmann stated the company's rapid growth and the large number of vacant tech jobs made the investment attractive. The VC is a subsidiary of the Tengelmann Group and has previously invested in startups such as Zalando, Delivery Hero and Stylight.
IBB provides early-stage financing to Berlin-based companies. The subsidiary of Investionsbank Berlin has invested approximately €128m in 150 startups to date.
Previous funding
In June 2015, CareerFoundry received a six-digit investment from Tengelmann and business angels. An earlier investment by business angels saw CareerFoundry receive €250,000.
Company
Founded in 2013 and based in Berlin, CareerFoundry is an online school for web development, iOS development, user experience and user interface design. The school states it works with hundreds of employers worldwide to place its alumni in paid jobs.
