Blackstone opens Paris office; appoints Steg
The Blackstone Group has opened an office in Paris and appointed Jean-Michel Steg senior managing director. Blackstone's goal was to expand its international corporate M&A as well as its restructuring advisory network. The French team will report to Blackstone's European headquarters based in London.
Steg started his career at Lazard Freres where he spent 16 years in New York and then Paris before joining BZW investment bank as managing director in Paris. In 1996 he moved to Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as managing director and head of investment banking eventually moving to Goldman Sachs in the same role in 1999 where he spent three years. Steg joins Blackstone from Citigroup where he had been head of banking for France and Belgium since 2004.
