BPE company Karavel-Promovacances buys Switch
Barclays Private Equity (BPE) portfolio company Karavel-Promovacances has acquired Switch, an internet holiday company. This purchase follows the purchase of ABCroisiere, an online cruise holiday operator.
BPE originally took control of the company in 2007 in a EUR100m buyout from travel group Opodo. Switch was founded in 1997 and operates the Partirpascher.com brand online, which generates EUR100m a year.
Karavel-Promovacances, founded in 2000 by Christian Blanc, sells holiday packages on the internet. The company's websites, which offer weekend deals, longer holidays as well as flights to more than 200 destinations, attract 600,000 clients a month. The group generated sales of EUR270m in 2007.
