Apax and LBO France furnish Maison du Monde
Apax Partners and LBO France have acquired a 70% majority stake in Maison du Monde in a secondary LBO deal. Nantes-based Maison du Monde specialises in home decoration and furniture retailing. The deal values the company at around EUR435m. It operates a network of over 175 owned stores in shopping malls, city centres and retail parks. The majority of the company's stores are located in France but the company does operate on a pan-European scale.
The investment will be used to consolidate the group's position in France and continue to deploy the same model around Europe. In 2007, Maison du Monde posted sales of EUR230m with an operating margin of 16%.
