
European private equity on the rise in Q2
According to the latest unquote" private equity Barometer, in association with Candover, there has been a rise in expansion deals and the return of big buyouts has led to a 15% rise in the total combined value of European private equity transactions.
The value of deals climbed from EUR26bn in Q1 to EUR30bn in Q2 while the number of deals increased to 390, a rise of 9% on the previous semester. Buyout activity remained stable with 173 buyouts valued at around EUR24bn. This was driven by the growth of the small-cap end and a return to form for large value deals.
Deals valued above EUR1.65bn have increased by 57% with three deals recorded worth around EUR7.8bn. France for its part saw its buyout deal volume fall to 25, although the deal value grew to just under EUR4bn.
