EVCA elects new chairman

The board of the EVCA has elected Jonathan Russell, managing partner of buyouts at 3i, as its new chairman for the year 2008-2009.

Russell is chairman of the EVCA's buyout committee and a member of the executive committee. He brings with him 3i's experience in the mid-market, which may stand him in good stead for the role considering that 85% of companies funded by private equity in Europe in 2007 were small- to mid-sized businesses.
