France's expansion sector set to grow
Media centre developer Wyplay and depollution and maintenance company Le Floch Group both raised EUR10m each this month in expansion rounds. The investments come on the heels of Qosmos raising EUR7m in the previous month. These deals suggest a strong investment trend in expansion rounds, which might stem the current lag in France's investment records compared to last year.
From the graph below we observe that although there has been a decrease in the value of deals in the second quarter of 2008 the volume has actually increased in comparison to the first quarter of 2008. With Demeter Partners launching its new EUR200m fund Demeter 2 aimed principally at French expansion deals and Aurel NextStage launching a new EUR150m fund to be principally invested in French growth capital, the market sector seems set to be well funded for an increase in both deal value and volume in the second half of the year.
