
Charterhouse's Cooper-Vemedia buys 12 Sanofi brands for €158m
Charterhouse Capital Partners' French portfolio company Cooper-Vemedia has acquired 12 pharmaceutical brands from listed group Sanofi for €158m.
The assets acquired by Cooper-Vemedia include dermatology, well-being and eyecare products that are primarily sold across France and Italy.
The transaction marks the second notable acquisition by the group since Charterhouse bought Cooper from investment company Caravelle in October 2015, in a deal believed to be worth in the region of €700m. The GP then acquired Dutch over-the-counter pharmaceuticals business Vemedia from IK Investment Partners in July 2016 and subsequently merged the two companies.
Charterhouse is invested in Cooper-Vemedia via Charterhouse X, a €2.3bn vehicle that held its final close in November 2016.
