Alven leads $10m round for vegan cosmetics brand Typology
Alven Capital has led a $10m seed round for Paris-based vegan cosmetics producer Typology.
Unquote understands that Alven used its fifth fund to finance the round. The vehicle held a final close on its €250m hard-cap in December 2016.
VC investment platform Firstminute Capital, alongside Jaina Capital CEO Marc Simoncini and Kima Ventures founder Xavier Niel, also took part in the funding round.
Following the deal, Alven partner Jeremy Uzan will join the company’s board to support the management, led by founder and CEO Ning Li.
Typology intends to use the financing to further consolidate its market position, accelerate its growth and expand its product offering by launching two new lines: Lab, composed of six highly-concentrated natural serums, and Ten, a set of natural skincare and hygiene products with fewer than 10 ingredients each.
Company
Established in 2018 and based in Paris, Typology offers natural and cruelty-free skincare and cosmetics products composed of a selective list of vegan and sustainable ingredients, including avocado, argan and almond oil, suitable for sensitive skin and perfume-free.
The company recently launched its first line of products named Raw, composed of natural ingredients including vegetable oils and powders that the customers have to mix together at home in order to create hair masks and skin creams. The company employs 15 staff.
