
Apax invests in engineering software developer Graitec
France-based Apax Partners has acquired a majority stake in France-based Graitec, a structural and civil engineering software company.
Founder Francis Guillemard and the management team have significantly reinvested in the business alongside Apax.
Apax intends to help the company with the acceleration of its international expansion and external growth.
Previous funding
Graitec first received institutional funding in 2000 from Sofimac Partners and SGAM AI Private Equity. This was followed by a $4.5m round in 2005, with the funding provided by Isatis Capital, CDC Innovation, Siparex and Omnes Capital. Isatis subsequently invested €2.5m in Graitec in 2014 and €4m a year later, to back its acquisition of Texas-based peer Total Cad.

Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Bièvres, Graitec is a publisher and distributor of building information modelling software used by architecture, engineering and construction firms. With nearly 550 employees and its presence in 13 countries, Graitec serves around 15,000 customers.
