Balderton leads $2.75m seed round for Aircall
London-headquartered VC Balderton Capital has led a $2.75m seed financing for Aircall, a French software-based phone system designer.
Aside from Balderton, the round featured capital from startup accelerator FundersClub and North American entrepreneurs.
Aircall, whose software is used by corporate clients including Uber and Deliveroo, claims to have witnessed increasing demand for its services since being founded in 2014.
In order to push growth, the startup will use the seed funds to double its headcount at its Paris and San Francisco offices within the next four to six months. In addition, there are plans to incorporate new functionalities to its software-based phone system.
The deal is the latest to be inked by Balderton during its active start of 2016. So far this year, the London-headquartered firm has taken part in the series-B for British online car-purchasing service carwow and Danish wine-focused social app Vivino, which raised a respective £12.5m and $25m.
Having recently hired Harjinder Johal as head of IR and added Rob Moffat and James Wise to its partner roster, the VC is currently investing from its $305m, 2013-vintage fifth fund.
Company
Founded within the eFounders scheme in 2014, Aircall has designed a software-based phone system that is used by corporates within their sales, marketing and support functions, among others. Headquartered in Paris, the company operates out of additional offices in San Francisco and claims to have landed clients for its software across 35 countries.
