
MySQL founder backs MoSync
VC firm Open Ocean Capital, backed by MySQL founder Michael "Monty" Widenius has invested an undisclosed sum in MoSync, a provider of mobile application tools for standardisation.
Founded in 2004, Swedish company MoSync has an open source/dual licensing model which provides free open source license as well as commercial licenses offered with an annual subscription model. The company has previously received backing from STING Capital and taken part in the STING business development programme.
The aim is to provide tools for development of applications on all major platforms such as Android, Iphones and Windows mobile.
In addition to the fresh capital, MoSync has also hired Dusyant Patel as new CEO.
