PIPEs coming into fashion in Europe and the US

With the mounting fear of recession, combined with the liquidity standstill after the subprime crash, PIPE deals are becoming increasingly popular among buyout houses.

CapMan has recruited Jukka Ruuska, a former OMX Nordic Exchange president, to set up a PIPE division, and 3i launched European quoted vehicle 3i Quoted Private Equity (3i QPE) last year to capitalise on the market trend.
