
EVCA data shows increased returns in '07
Private equity delivered increased returns for investors in 2007, with buyout funds the best performers, according to data from the European Venture Capital Association.
Average fund returns in 2007 were 11.7%, up on the 10.8% recorded in 2006. Buyout funds returned 16.1% to investors in 2007, including management fees and carried interest, while venture capital funds returned 4.5%. However, money raised for investment was significantly down on 2006, with EUR74.3bn raised in 2007, compared with the EUR122bn raised the previous year. Importantly, capital invested remained stable and could exceed the EUR71bn committed by managers to investee companies in 2006.
