By providing financing the funding body aims to create spearheads in the sector which, they believe, will further speed of the development of the entire sector.
The programme, Serve - Pioneers of Service Business 2006-2013 - is said to "promote the development of customer-oriented service innovations based on knowledge and know-how." Total budget for the programme after the extension to 2013 is EUR224m. Tekes contributes approximately half of this sum.
