CVC in merger of Swedish and Danish postal systems
CVC Capital Partners, The Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy & Communication and The Danish Ministry of Transport have merged Posten AB and Post Danmark A/S. The Swedish state together with the employees now hold 60% of the shares, while CVC has gained 40% ownership for an undisclosed value. The merger aims to create a stronger and more competitive company to better service both businesses and households in an increasingly competitive European market.
After a deregulation decision was taken by the EU, the postal and logistics market has rapidly changed becoming more competitiv eand consolidated.
The deal is expected to complete at the end of 2008 depending on relevant regulatory approvals.
According to press reports the group will be listed in three to five years.
