Siemens launches VC fund-of-funds
Siemens Venture Capital GmbH has launched Siemens Global Innovation Partners I GmbH & Co KG (SGIP I), a $200m fund-of-funds that will invest in venture capital funds worldwide as well as select growth capital funds. Siemens Venture Capital GmbH is the corporate venture capital arm of Siemens.
The fund has already secured nearly half of its target through a first closing, with the German Siemens pension funds and two leading European insurers among the investors. About two-thirds of the fund will be invested in funds in North America, with investments in Europe, Israel and Asia making up the rest. The target portfolio will include about 20 funds.
