Coller acquires SVG stake
It is understood Coller Capital has taken £50m of shares in SVG Capital's heavily-discounted £70m private placement, making the secondaries specialist the largest shareholder in the listed fund. The investment equates to a 23.9% stake, which could be diluted to between 14-19% depending on the results of the £139m rights issue that SVG launched simultaneously with the private placement in December 2008. The moves have prompted press speculation that Coller may take the fund private in the near future, or acquire its assets as it did last year with the Prelude Trust.
