KKR fund mystery
Confusion surrounds the progress of fundraising for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co's (KKR's) latest European vehicle, with some reports suggesting a EUR6bn final close and others reporting that the fund is still in the fundraising process.
KKR has faced difficulties with the fundraising process due to the falling value of the dollar against the euro and slow activity in the mega-deal segment. This latest vehicle, KKR Europe III, has a target of EUR8bn. KKR closed its previous European fund on EUR4.5bn in October 2005.
