
Kinnevik leads $23m series-A round for Joint Academy
Joint Academy, a digital healthcare provider for osteoarthritis and joint pain, has raised $23m in a series-B funding round led by Kinnevik.
Existing investors Karl-Johan Persson, who is the chairman of clothing brand H&M, and Alfvén & Didrikson also participated in the round.
The company will use the proceeds to expand into the US and further expand into Europe. It has raised $34.2m since being founded six years ago.
According to the company, it has treated 25,000 patients suffering from chronic hip and knee pain by connecting them with licensed physical therapists through its app.
Previous funding
In September 2018, Joint Academy raised $7m in a series-A round led by Alfvén & Didrikson with participation from existing investors.
Company
Founded in 2014 and based in Malmo, Joint Academy has developed an app through which patients with joint pain can find licensed physical therapists. It employs 40 staff.
