
Vækstfonden et al. in €1.1m seed round for Kaffe Bueno
Danish state fund Vækstfonden and agri-food investor Yield Lab have participated in a €1.1m seed round for Danish biotech startup Kaffe Bueno, alongside Finnish food company Paulig Group and a Danish business angel.
The startup plans to use the seed funding for launching new products, scaling up production, growing its team and to cover costs for patents.
Company
Founded in Søborg in 2016, Kaffe Bueno uses green chemistry and biotechnology to reform coffee by-products into active and functional ingredients for cosmetics, nutraceuticals and functional foods.
The company has created three products with coffee as its main ingredient: Kaffe Bueno Oil, a lipid used in personal care and food products; Kafflour, a gluten-free flour; and Kaffibre, a natural exfoliant for cosmetics. It has fewer than 10 employees, according to its LinkedIn page.
