Large buyout exit activity rises, dealflow remains steady
The volume and value of exits emanating from European buyouts in excess of E250m have increased rapidly over the last year against a backdrop of steady investment levels, according to research from Cinven and IEC, the consulting arm of Initiative Europe. The large buyout segment has recorded 22 exits in the first half of 2004 alone, with 11 of these realisations falling into Q2. Successful exits also appear to be generated faster in the large buyout market. The average holding period for E250m+ transactions is 2.9 years compared with 3.8 years for all private equity backed buyouts in the last five years.
