SG has hired Anne Gallet from Crédit Agricole Indosuez to its financial sponsor coverage group in London as it continues to rebuild its leveraged finance business in Europe. Gallet, who joins SG's corporate and investment banking team as a vice-president, previously spent eight years at CAI, including three years in the acquisition finance group in Paris. In her new role, Gallet will work with Nick Heptinstall, a managing director in the financial sponsor coverage team, and Florus Plantegna, who joined SG's French sponsors group in January 2003 from Merrill Lynch. Gallet will be responsible for covering SG's financial sponsor clients across Europe, reporting to Scott Phillips. Philips moved from SG's high-yield team to head the financial sponsors team when it was created in September 2001. SG has hired several bankers in an effort to revamp its leveraged debt business, which is headed by René de Laigue, after a strategic review of the division in 2001 prompted several defections.
