Neotec Forum
On 6 November, twenty technology-based businesses presented their business plans before a selection of institutional and private equity investors at the Neotec forum in Santiago de Compostela. The companies who attended the forum were based in Andalusia (3), Catalonia (3), Madrid (5) Valencia (4), the Basque Country (1), Murcia (1) and Galicia (3). The forum is designed to provide a platform for newly-established companies to secure start-up or development capital. This was the second Neotec forum, organised by the Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI) and the private equity house Unirisco, which is formed by Galicia-based universities and financial bodies. In order to be selected for financing, the companies must be active in sectors such as biotechnology and IT which are considered less attractive to private equity investors, but which the EU is interesting in supporting.
