New Statistics show difficulties of current buyout environment in Spain and Italy

In the past 18 months, the Spanish and Italian buyout markets have seen a significant drop in activity, according to new statistics published by Initiative Europe. The figures are drawn from the Southern Europe…unquote†Volume & Value Index, a new analytical tool which will publish bi-monthly measurements of activity in the market for Euro10m+ buyouts in the region (see page 28). The Index expresses both volume and value figures on a 12 month rolling basis in order to reflect more accurately the evolving markets. Additional features detailing vendor and sector type, as well as key measurements such as gearing ratios are expected to be included in the future, as the market becomes more transparent.
