Proven venture capital expert and successful entrepreneur Eric Archambeau has joined Wellington Partners as a new general partner. A french native, he has 23 years of experience in founding, financing and investing in young technology companies. 'With his remarkable network in the United States and Europe, Eric ideally complements our team,' says Wellington Partner Bart Markus. In 1982, Archambeau co-founded his first company in Silicon Valley. During the 1990s, he built Right Point Software, which was sold to e.Piphany in 1999. In 1998, he co-founded Trading Dynamics and led the company through its first development cycle and first round of funding. Only 18 months after an initial venture capital investment, the company was sold very successfully to Ariba. Following two years as a general partner at Atlas Venture in California, in 2000 he went on to start Benchmark Capital's European business as a founding partner in London. At Benchmark, Archambeau played a key role in launching the firm's European activity leading or co-leading a number of deals across Europe. At Wellington, Archambeau, an engineer who holds a PhD in information technology and an MBA, will be focusing on internet services, enterprise software and semiconductor opportunities. Thanks to his extensive experience in business development and company building, he will also be able to support the Wellington portfolio in these business-critical sectors. On top of that, he will increase further Wellington's ability to support the expansion of portfolio companies to the US.
