Vista Capital de Expansión, the private equity firm owned by Santander Central Hispano and Royal Bank of Scotland, has appointed Roberto Ranera and Rafael Garabito as investment directors. The announcement follows the appointment of Carlos RodrÃguez de Tembleque as president and Ignacio Moreno as managing director in June this year. Carlos Artal, who was already part of the Vista team, has also been made an investment director. Ranera, 39, has a degree in Economic and Business Science, as well as an MBA from the University of Houston. Ranera was a director of 3i Europe, where he carried out € EUR 200m of investments. Towards the end of his time at 3i, he led the Scandinavian investment team. Garabito, 32, has degrees in Law and in Business Administration and Management from ICADE in Madrid. From 2000 onwards, Garabito also worked at 3i as an investment director, where he has been involved in investments totalling more than EUR 120m over the past three years. From 1996 to 1998, he worked for Garrigues, Abogados y Asesores as a specialist tax lawyer to financial institutions. He later held the post of senior adviser in the mergers and acquisitions department of Andersen Corporate Finance.
