Mercapital to sell Occidentales Hot
Mercapital has informed the Spanish monopolies commission of its decision to sell its 30.6% stake in Occidentales Hoteles. Goldman Sachs is organising the sale, which is expected to complete by the end of the summer. The other shareholders, including La Caixa (30.4%), Grupo Gestar (22%) and some private investors, may also decide to sell their stakes in the company. Reports suggest that six hotel chains, namely NH Hoteles, Accor, Marriott, Starwood, Intercontinental and Hilton, have expressed interest in the offer, as well as a number of private equity firms including Apax, CVC, Carlyle, Permira, Candover and Bridgepoint.
