Freshfields' Madrid office announced the addition of two new partners as of 1 May 2004. Armando Albarrán and Silvia Paternain where both previously associates with the firm. Albarrán is a member of the firm's Spanish corporate practice, specialising in securities, M&A and funds work, while Paternain is a tax lawyer. She will be joint head of the firm's tax department in Spain, along with Highly recommended partner Miguel Klingenberg. The Spanish promotions form part of a firm-wide election, which saw 14 lawyers join the partnership globally
