H1 2004 shows growth in Spanish PE Market
According to statistics recently unveiled by Webcapitalriesgo and ASCRI, the Spanish venture capital and private equity market has grown 39.2% compared to the same period in the previous year. In the first six months of 2003 some EUR 419.7m was invested against a total of EUR 584.16m in the six months ending 30 June 2004. Leveraged transactions represented 25% of all deals by volume in H1 2004, up from 20.5% in H1 2004. Expansion deals, meanwhile, accounted for 57% of transactions in H1 2004 against 62.3% in the same period in the previous year.
