Carlyle looking to float Moncler
Carlyle's portfolio company Moncler has applied for a listing on the Italian Stock Exchange.
Global coordinators for the IPO are Banca IMI, Bank of America, Merril Lynch and Morgan Stanley International.
Carlyle acquired a 48% stake in Moncler in 2008 for an estimated €460m. From December 2009 to December 2010, turnover at the company increased by 14.8% and EBITDA grew by 32.4%. The increase was achieved through development of the retail channel and expansion in international markets.
Milan-based Moncler provides design, implementation, marketing and distribution of high-end clothing and accessories. The Group owns the historic brand Moncler and also boasts a portfolio of other prestigious brands such as Henry Cotton's. Moncler operates in Europe, Asia, and North America. The company had a turnover of €428.7m and an EBITDA of €102.1m in 2010 and currently employs 873 people.
Advisers for the company are Latham & Watkins LLP and KPMG. The global coordinators are advised by Linklaters.
