Law firm Gianni expands M&A practice and changes name
Italian law firm Gianni Origini Grippo & Partners has been expanded with a team of 11 lawyers, led by Roberto Cappelli who adds his name to the company title.
As reported in unquote's sister title Legal Week, the addition expands Gianni Origini Grippo Cappelli & Partners to a team of 150 lawyers in its corporate finance group.
Cappelli, who brings four senior associates and six associates, brought the team from Grimaldi & Associati. He previously joined five partners in a breakaway of Grimaldi from Clifford Chance in 2002, reportedly due to a row about the implementation of an Anglo-Saxon-style management system.
In addition to his law firm job, Cappelli is deputy chairman of football club AS Roma and serves as board member in media company The Space Entertainment and financial services company Fondiaria SAI.
The associates moving from Grimaldi to Gianni Origini Grippo Cappelli & Partners have been named as: Salvatore Grimaldi, Stefania Lo Curto, Sara Paoni, Nabor Zaffiri (senior); and Francesca Biocca, Annamaria Briamonte, Francesco Conti, Lucia Occhiuto, Francesca Pagnanini, Pietro Vitale (ordinary).
