Italian Stock Exchange launches PE initiative
The Borsa Italiana has announced the launch of Elite, a platform uniting 15 Italian private equity houses with the shared focus of boosting unlisted Italian SMEs.
Elite will create a network that brings investors and entrepreneurs together and offer a range of organisational, financial and industrial services. The project aims to open up new sources of capital including private equity, M&A and IPOs with the ultimate intention of advancing economic growth.
Elite has already selected 30 candidate companies, from the 50 that applied, which will be advised on their organisation, funding options and possibilities for international expansion. At the launch, many such companies announced their intention to list on the stock exchange within a couple of years.
Current adherents to the initiative include the Fondo Italiano di Investimento, Alto Partners and Clessidra, as well as institutional partners such as Confindustria and the Italian Banking Association. The initiative is backed by the Italian treasury.
