Blackstone Advisory boosts Iberian team
Blackstone Advisory Partners has expanded its team in the Iberian region with the appointments of Borja Arteaga and Albert Fernandez from Rothschild.
Arteaga joins the firm as senior managing director, with Fernandez as managing director. Both new hires will be based in Madrid.
Arteaga, who will head up Blackstone's restructuring and M&A advisory business, has more than 20 years' experience in corporate finance in the Spanish market. He spent the last 13 years at Rothschild, most recently as co-head of Spanish operations, having worked at Goldman Sachs and Santander.
Fernandez spent the past eight years at Rothschild, having spent time at both McKinsey and JP Morgan.
The duo have worked on a number of Spanish deals including Eurazeo's investment in Desigual, which saw the GP inject €285m into the clothing brand in exchange for a 10% stake, and Doughty Hanson's investments in hospital operators Quiron, USP and Teknon. The GP sold the resulting hospital group to CVC in July this year.
