Daiwa takes over Atlas Capital (SIDE)
Following the acquisition by Daiwa SMBC of UK-based Close Brothers Corporate Finance, the Japanese bank has purchased Spanish corporate financier Atlas Capital. The transaction sees Atlas' business fall under the umbrella of Daiwa. No management changes are expected.
The new owner foresees establishing a medium term incentive plan to guarantee the team's continuity.
Max Planck Innovation and LSP launch DDC Ventures (SIDE)
Max Planck Innovation GmbH, the technology transfer arm of Germany's Max Planck Society, has teamed up with Life Sciences Partners (LSP) to launch DDC Ventures, a EUR100m venture fund.
The fund is to invest in pharmaceutical projects, primarily originating from the life science institutes of the Max Planck Society.
DDC Ventures was initiated by Max Planck Innovation and Inventive Capital Advisors LLP, an advisory firm specialising in technology commercialisation. The fund is in discussions with several cornerstone investors.
