Mediobanca to open London arm
In a bid to further its presence abroad, Mediobanca is said to be preparing the launch of a branch in London early next year. It is understood that the office will be headed by former JP Morgan managing director Paolo Cuniberti and will focus on capital markets, derivatives and credit. Since 2004, Milanese investment bank Mediobanca has opened three branches in Europe (Paris, Madrid and Frankfurt) and one in New York. Italy's most influential investment bank has reportedly managed to avoid defaults during the debt woes, having announced a sharp increase in dividends, as well as a stock buy-back.
