VC-backed Whisbi to raise further venture funding
Spanish start-up Whisbi is looking to raise €10-12m in further venture capital financing from US- and UK-based investors, according to reports.
The online communications service provider is currently backed by Active Venture Partners and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI).
Active Venture was the firm's first backer, investing in January 2012 via the Amerigo Innvierte Spain Ventures vehicle. The capital injection was intended to support the international expansion of the firm.
In September 2012, BDMI entered the firm's shareholding in a deal that took the firm's total fundraising to $2.5m.
Founded in 2009 and based in Madrid and Barcelona, Whisbi aims to optimise online sales. The company's patented technology connects the seller to the customer in real time via an online video conference call with chat facility, allowing the sales representative to talk the customer through the sales options and process. In 2011, Whisbi reported a 165% growth in sales. The firm has offices in London and São Paulo.
