Vertis to launch €60m fund
Italian venture capital firm Vertis is to launch a new fund in June 2013.
The new vehicle, Vertis Venture 2, will have a €60m target and back digital and life sciences startups. A number of target companies have already been identified and evaluated.
The fund will also support the foundation of a venture incubator and a partnership with Università Federico II.
Unlike its predecessor, the vehicle will target SMEs across the whole country.
Vertis Venture, the firm's first fund, held capital commitments of €25m and was limited to southern Italian investments. The vehicle is 84% invested and includes clothing producer Arav and mobile payments solution Jusp among its most recent investments.
