Ibersuizas said to have sold MD Anderson
Ibersuizas is thought to have finalised its sale of MD Anderson España, the Spanish subsidiary of the MD Anderson Cancer Centre of Houston, according to reports.
The private equity firm has been in negotiations for months about an exit, as the business is believed to be making a loss and requires an urgent capital increase. Investment bank Confivendis was hired to advise the transaction.
Ibersuizas first acquired a 45% stake in the business in early 2000 in order to support its growth plans within the Iberian Peninsula.
In 2003 it teamed up with the now-extinct Inveralia to acquire up to 85% of the company's shares for €3.2m, while the rest of the equity remained in the hands of the parent company and the centre's medical team.
