Trilantic "to sell Spumador at auction"
Trilantic Capital Partners is preparing to sell bottler and distributor Spumador at auction, according to reports.
In a move that is expected to generate interest from private equity groups and trade buyers alike, the current investor has asked investment bank Rothschild to find a buyer for the company, which has revenues of €250m.
Spumador is best known for producing and bottling Italian soft drinks and mineral water brands such as Fonte Sant'Antonio, San Francesco, Sant'Andrea, Valverde and Sancarlo Spinone. The Como-based company is thought to be worth around €150m.
It was first acquired by Trilantic, then known as Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking, in September 2005. The business's founders, the Verga and Colombo families, collectively retain a 24% equity stake.
